Is this the official PTE Academic test?
No. Onterra Tutor is an independent practice platform. You write answers to original prompts in the official format and get instant, rater-style scores so you know where you stand before booking.
How is my essay scored?
On the traits Pearson reports for Write Essay: content, development and coherence, vocabulary and grammar, on the 10-90 scale. Essays outside 200-300 words are penalized on form, exactly as in the real exam.
Why does the word count matter so much?
Write Essay has a hard form rule: 200-300 words. Outside that range the real exam caps your form score, so the checker holds you to the same standard.
Is it free?
Your first scored practice each day is free with no sign-up. A free account unlocks more daily checks, and unlimited practice costs a few dollars a month.
