About Onterra Tutor

What this is

Onterra Tutor is a practice tool. You write an essay, answer a speaking question, or sit a reading or listening set in the exam's own format, and the answer is scored against the same public criteria an examiner uses, in about a minute. It covers IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic and the Duolingo English Test, each scored on its own scale. It is not the real exam, it is not affiliated with the boards that run the real exam, and it never claims to be either; it exists so you know roughly where you stand before you pay a real exam fee.

Who runs it

Onterra Tutor is built and run by Onterra Nigeria Limited (RC-918935), Lagos, Nigeria. The company also runs Onterra Escrow and other products; Onterra Tutor is the exam-practice side of the business.

• Your first test is free without an account. A free account then gets four free tests a week, one in each of writing, speaking, reading and listening, and the report shows one of its three fixes. • A payment that never delivers its plan is refunded in full, and an unused plan within 7 days.

What it costs

Your first test is free, no sign-up required. A free account gives you four free tests every week, one each in writing, speaking, reading and listening, still at no cost. Unlimited practice, with a band-8 rewrite of your weakest paragraph on every score, is a paid plan priced at a small fraction of one real exam fee. See the current prices on pricing.

The refund rule

A payment that never delivers the plan it was charged for is refunded in full. A duplicate charge from a payment glitch is refunded in full. Beyond that, a plan already delivering unlimited practice is refunded within 7 days of purchase if you genuinely have not used it, in line with the full refund policy.

Two brands, one product

tutor.onterra.ng is the Nigeria-first IELTS brand: naira pricing and a WhatsApp history. onterratutor.com is the global brand covering IELTS, TOEFL, PTE and the Duolingo English Test for test-takers anywhere. Both run on the same scoring engine and the same account, so a signed-in user's practice history follows them across either domain.
