Practise for your English test, a little every day.
If your registration asks for an English test, this is somewhere to practise the four parts of it: writing, speaking, reading and listening, with an instant score and a first thing to fix.
What you get
- One free test in each section every week. Writing, speaking, reading and listening, on any of the tests we cover, with no card.
- Scores against the published descriptors. Writing and speaking are scored on the criteria the test itself publishes, and reading and listening are marked against an answer key.
- Your costliest fix first. Each report names the one change that would have gained you the most marks.
- Unlimited practice on a paid plan, if one test a section a week is not enough before your date. The prices are on the pricing page.
The tests you can practise
IELTS, TOEFL, PTE Academic and the Duolingo English Test, each in its own format. The practice questions are written for general exam skills, not around nursing topics, so use them to build the language skills the test measures and keep your clinical vocabulary practice separate. Onterra Tutor is not affiliated with any test provider, and a score here is practice, not an official result.
Check what your regulator asks for first
Which test you may take, and the score you need, are set by the body that registers you, and they change. Read them on its own site before you choose a test or a date. A few places to start, each the body's own home page:
- Nursing and Midwifery Council, United Kingdom
- Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
- College of Nurses of Ontario
- National Council of State Boards of Nursing, United States
Some regulators also accept tests that we do not cover. If yours does, its site will say so.
